Pair programming and the Clumping phenomenon

In a retrospective a wee while ago we identified the phenomenon of clumping. Clumping, as it has been colloquially termed, is the crowding effect that occurs when too many pairs cram into one section of the bullpen.

Collaborate more to achieve hustle

Our team has been together now for about 15 weeks and things are going well. We've got a sustainable pace that's delivering value every week, our Product Owner and Product Sponsor are both happy, and everyone is having fun. So what's bugging me? 2 things.

Bullpen

In a recent post about iteration zero I said that we were waiting for permission to construct a team bullpen. Well, here it is. It's conducive to osmotic communication and pair programming, and it has enough room for team huddles and the daily standup around the planning board.
