On the other hand, there's the equally useful, "If something is painful to do, try doing it more often."
The simple example here is cleaning the kitchen: cleaning as you go is much easier than doing the dishes once a year. But if you are a once-a-year dish doer, you'll grumble at people who suggest doing it more often, telling them that doing it once a year is awful enough; there's no way you'd want to double that!
