Come on. Get real!

In 2 years, the people at 37signals successfully launched the Basecamp , Campfire , Backpack , Writeboard , and Ta-da List web-based applications, and the infamous open-source web application framework, Ruby on Rails . Now, over 400,000 people around the world are actively using these applications.

37signals have published a PDF book about their business, design, programming, and marketing principles, titled Getting Real . The book is packed with keep-it-simple insights, contrarian points of view, and unconventional approaches to software design. This is not a technical book or a design tutorial, it's a book of ideas .

If you're playing around with Web applications I recommend you get a copy of Getting Real and start reading it.
